May 14th, 2010 Cycle London Painting

So I finally got rund to painting this picture. The deadline was looming and I had promised myself that I would get it done. If I had been more organised it could have been finished better, but I’m quite pleased with the result. I might add more to it in the future. Now to submit the thing and get it off my mind.

phew

April 14th, 2010 Cycle London

Work in progress. Starting Studies for a competition. I’m gonna get the paints out for this one. It’s been too long.

I got a new job offer two days ago so will soon have loads more time for my Illustration. I’m very excited about the new job, and not working in pub, which tends to eat up sociable time.

I’ll let you know how things go. I start on the 19th!

April 14th, 2010 A tweet not a tweet

A selection of bird images I am working on. I have had some interest from across the pond, and it is possible that in the future they may ask me to illustrate a small guide to British Birds. It seems a bit wishy washy on the details but you never know eh?

April 6th, 2010 Mother’s Day Competition

Just saw a web competition for the design of a Mothers Day Card. If there is one thing I do every year it is to make my mum a Mothers Day card so I’ve had plenty of practice. I knocked these up and sent them in. Why not eh?

The other designs can be seen on my flickr – follow the link on my blog page.

March 23rd, 2010 Nelly

Just a bit of fun illustration, thinking about ideas for posters and elephants in jungles. I’m trying to get an illutration agent at the moment, which means that I need to be making more work MORE of the time.

March 19th, 2010 Charles Harper – luck at last

Charles Harper

Huge inspiration of mine, Charles Harper, or rather images that really keep me in love of both art and nature. His forms are simplistic and perfectly detailed, and the palette used is always spot on.

I’m in love with nearly every image I see. Anyhow…

I had heard of but never seen ‘The Golden Pleasure Book of BIOLOGY’ renowned to hold some of his finest illustrations. Then, on a random and spontaneous walk down the local high street from Dalston, I popped into Oxfam. I never go in oxfam. I had a look around but was more taken by an interesting looking girl with a huge scarf. I decided to leave and saw another second hand furniture shop with a few other bits and bobs thrown all over the place. I walked in, snooped through the old printers, plates, tea cups and candle holders that you normally find, and then came to the book section. It was just sitting there, on the top of an ill organised pile of books.

“how much for the book mate?”

“£1″

luckily I hadn’t spent the £1 on a scratchy… because on later inspection This is the 1961 edition worth a good few bob and not easy to find.

As Cheap As Chips.
